Evenings of Jewish Chant in Vancouver
ANNIVERSARY GATHERING ON SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 30Bring your voice and be transported by the deep intention and inner experience on Sunday, November 30, at our monthly Evening of Jewish Chant. We'll be joined by regular guest musician David Embry Solest and percussionist Russell Shumsky.
The evening marks four years since Lorne Mallin began hosting these warm and friendly monthly evenings in November 2004. You're invited to stay for tea and cake.
Lorne's teacher, Rabbi Shefa Gold, says that we can "enter through the door of a chant into the depths and vast expanse of the silence."
The
practice of Jewish chanting is a vehicle for prayer, healing and
connection. The chants are composed from a short phrase of sacred text
with a beautiful melody. The most powerful moment of the chant happens
in the silence that follows. The chant inclines the mind toward a state
of consciousness that can be accessed in that moment after the chant.
- WHERE: Sourcepoint, 3263 Heather St. between 16th and 17th Aves.
- WHEN: 7:30-9pm on the last Sunday of the month, except December, when it will be held on Sunday, Jan. 4, due to Lorne's travels.
- ADMISSION: By donation, $10
